I recently misplaced a valuable piece of jewelry, not my most valuable, but still valuable.
I tried to remember the last time I wore it and looked in all the places that I may have placed it. I still have not found it.
A thought came to me as I was searching… “What is truly valuable to you Sharon?” I felt God speak to my heart and I responded out loud, “Knowing Jesus as my Savior, knowing God’s love in a deep kind of way….Oh and people that I love and care about…and people that I don’t know who need to know Jesus. Also being in Your will Father God, making the most of the life you have given me. These are the truly valuable things in life.”
Jesus talked about valuables in Matthew chapter 6:18-21, “Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moths and vermin destroy, and where thieves break in and steal. For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.”
So I guess the bigger question is, “Where is your heart?” “Where is my heart?” We can become so caught up in the things in the world…our stuff…our pleasure…our Image…our comfortability, that we miss the true treasure of life!
The true treasure is in truly knowing Jesus and Jesus said if you’ve seen me you’ve seen the Father! And also caring about people and that they clearly see and know the love of Jesus too.
You know how when you’re in an airplane and they tell you in the event of an emergency put your oxygen mask on first and then help your child or the one sitting next to you to get their oxygen mask on? Well, Jesus is the oxygen we need to understand the true treasure of life! If we don’t know Him well, we won’t care about what He cares about!
God’s greatest treasure is you! So dive in to the book of His love for you and find the greatest valuable in the world…Jesus Christ crucified for the redemption of your soul!
