Never Fail?

Never Fail?

Never failing. What must that feel like? As humans, we can’t comprehend what this means because we will fail at something at some point in our life. Actually, when we fail, we are learning and growing.

Albert Einstein is quoted as saying, ” I didn’t fail 1,000 times. The light bulb was an invention with 1,000 steps.” Failure is a natural part of learning and growth.

But many times, lifes failures are excrutiating. The hardest lessons we learn are the result of massive failures in our human walk. And many times, when we are in the midst of failure, we feel the most isolated and alone because feeling our human brokeness and looking at the failure right in the face is hard, lonely and disappointing. Failed test, failed relationship, failed employment, failed dreams….the pain is real, there is no avenue where we won’t experience the sting of failure in this life.

But we don’t have to be alone in that failure. Repeatedly throughout scripture, God promises to never fail us. He is the perfecter, the refiner and even in our worst and weekest, He loves us.

Hebrews 13:5-7: “I will never fail you. I will never abandon you”

While we can be assured that we will fail at some point in our lives, we are also keenly aware that other humans will fail us. Broken promises, relationships, vows, friendships…there is not one human who is never impacted by the failure of another.

Without God, the outlook can appear bleak. If we are always going to fail and others are always going to fail us, how do we survive, who can we trust, what can we count on. This is where faith in God steps in mightily and makes this promise, Deuteronomy 31:8 “The LORD himself goes before you and will be with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged.”

When the angel of the Lord appeared to Mary that she would conceive a son by the Holy Spirit who would be the savior of the world, Mary asked, “how can this be?” The angel explained in Luke 1 and concluded in verse 37, “For no word from God will ever fail.”

God is in the business of winning. Winning hearts, winning souls and cheering you on through it all. Take heart reader that even in the midst of what may feel like epic failures, you are precious and loved and God will never fail you if you just release your will to Him.

Peace and love,
