Ecclesiastes 3:1 “To every thing there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven”

Many use January to set new goals, resolutions, and make commitments to changes in their life…and then the familiar, the comfortable, old patterns often take over and by early March, those resolutions are abandoned.

Change can be terrifying, especially when taking the brave steps to leave an abusive situation. It will be three years on February 22nd since leaving my abuser and those early days were filled with doubt, fear, countless attacks for months from my abuser and sometimes a deep lonliness. When I stepped out of abuse, it took a while for the old patterns to be replaced with new ones, for the power and control cycle to be broken, for the trauma bond to be severed. Through it all, I turned to God. He nurtured me, nourished me, I read His word and believed His promises for a hope and future. I let go of what I wanted to happen and trusted that God had a better plan for my life and the lives of my children.

Isiah 55: 10-11 “For as the rain comes down, and the snow from heaven, and do not return there, but water the earth, and make it bring forth and bud, that it may give seed to the sower and bread to the eater, so shall My word be that goes forth from My mouth; it shall not return to Me void, but it shall accomplish what I please, and it shall prosper in the thing for which I sent it.”

When making changes, you need tools and guideposts to mark your way. The word of God is the ultimate tool and guidepost.

Psalm 119:105 “Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path”

There are seasons of life, some valleys and some mountains, trust in God to be your guide through all the seasons as He created them, He created you and He loves you.

Is this your season? Let His word be your guide in 2025.

Grace, Mercy and Peace in the New Year,

Angela K
