Think of a spectacular sunset over the waters, with the vibrant colors wrapped around the huge ball of fire, changing moment by moment as it sinks into the expanse between the sky and the ocean. We behold the beauty of nature in awe and wonder as the colors collide and sense something so much bigger than ourselves.

Psalm 27:4 “One thing I ask of the Lord, this only do I seek; that I may dwell in the house of the Lord all the days of my life, to gaze on the beauty of the Lord, and to seek Him in His temple.”

The Creator of all of this beauty designed this huge light, the sun, that comes up every morning day by day, to light the world in perfect rhythm, to warm our planet to the perfect temperature for life to exist, for the tides to ebb and flow. It was day four of creation according to Genesis 4:14, “And God said, Let there be lights in the firmament of the heavens to divide day from night, let them be for signs, and for seasons, and for days and years.”

Psalm 19:1-7 “The heavens proclaim the glory of God. The skies display His craftsmanship. Day after day they continue to speak, night after night they make Him known. They speak without a sound or a word, their voice is never heard, Yet their message has gone throughout the earth, and their words to all the world.

God has made a home in the heavens for the sun, it bursts forth like a radiant bridegroom after his wedding, it rejoices like a great athlete eager to run the race. The sun rises at one end of the heavens and follows its course to the other end. Nothing can hide from its heat. The instructions of the Lord are perfect reviving the soul. The decrees of the Lord are trustworthy, making wise the simple.”

To behold something beautiful it must strike our senses with amazement, it must take the focus off everything else and become all we want to gaze upon. The experience is so fulfilling that we hope it never ends, it is felt and known deep within the heart and soul.

As I turned my focus on the beautiful love of Father God and how He sent Jesus to save me from my sin, and from myself. I began to behold His beauty and was truly captivated from the day I opened my heart to His love for me. All the things of the world began to fade in comparison to the beauty of the Lord. My longing heart was revived from every moment of suffering I had ever experienced in life. The healing Son of God, Jesus, shined like the sun into my broken heart, and led me to gaze on the beauty of the living Christ.

God is calling out to you my friend, with all the beauty of creation, seeking your attention, to gaze upon the beauty of His love for you. I pray you behold His beauty and be captivated that He loves you more than anyone else in this world ever could. He created you and wants to dwell in the temple of your heart all the days of your life now and in to eternity.
