We all have a story that is as unique as our fingerprints, even though there may be similarities of experiences that connect us, our stories are why we are who we are. Every high and low point of your life shape and mold your character. No matter how easy or difficult your road has been, it all has a way of writing our stories. God is omniscient (All knowing) and knows you better than you know yourself. He created you and also loves you more than you can comprehend.
So many of us just go through life trying to find satisfaction from pleasure and achievements. There are various reasons and expectations stemming from unmet needs in childhood. Trying to gain approval from parents, caregivers, teachers and peers can sometimes be motivators. Hopelessness can also drive some to just not care about anything and become angry or depressed and unable to function in the basics of life.
No matter where your story began, God was there rooting for you to turn to Him and give Him all the pieces of your life to design the masterpiece He created you to be! Yes, He created you for good things!
Ephesians 2:10 “For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.”
Prior to this verse the passage of Ephesians 2:1-9 talks about us following the ways of the world, gratifying our desires and thoughts, being influenced by the ruler of the kingdom of the air with a spirit of disobedience. Wanting what we think will make us happy, finding the satisfaction to be temporary and fails more often than not. But then, because of God’s great love for us, He sent Jesus to save us by His grace and mercy (undeserved favor). It says God rose us up to sit in heavenly places with Christ!
Wow, just stop and think about that….God the Father made a way for us to be in the same place as His beloved son Jesus! This is God’s gift to us, you are pretty special my friend!
There are countless stories in the Bible of regular people, some hopeless and broken but when they turned to the God of all creation with their whole hearts something changed and their broken stories became stories for God’s glory! God can take the worst of situations and turn them around for good.
I think of Rahab the prostitute whose whole family was saved from destruction because she turned to God! Hebrews chapter 11 has a list of men and women whose broken stories gave God glory. Each one of their stories start with the phrase, “By faith”. We all have to start somewhere and “By Faith” is a good place to start!
By faith, I believed that God could use my life after I came to the knowledge that my hope is in Jesus saving me from my sin and the sins done against me. I was an unwanted child, born as the result of rape, raised by a wounded single mama, molested and abused by a stepfather. A few years later find myself having an abortion as a teenager, then in a very abusive marriage for twenty years. Oh, the stories of shame, doubt and pain I could tell you. I also had a praying grandmother and mother who believed God had a bigger plan.
God changed things around and set my feet upon a firm foundation of His love for me. Now my purpose is in helping others find the same path I found at the very heart of God’s love for me. I published my story, “Ashes To Diamonds And Rubies” and started this website to reach people for Him, to reach you for Him. Because He loves you the most, more than anyone else could ever love you in this world.
He raises us up to sit in heavenly places with Jesus my friend. You have a story that God is waiting to tell this world about, and it is for your good and your children’s good. Amazing how God can create a masterpiece out of the messiness of humanity!
By faith, come to Him, give Him every shattered dream and see what He can do with it. Rest in the knowledge of His love over you, believe that you are His masterpiece created for good works planned by Him in advance of you even being born (Re-read Ephesians 2:10 above)…..Your Story, His Glory!
In His Amazing Love, Sharon Kay
